HYDERABAD: Three stray dogs were shot dead by unidentified persons at Alluri Sitaramaraju Nagar in Gudimalkapur on Monday evening.

Locals of Alluri Sitaramaraju Nagar alerted the Tappachabutra police about the three stray dogs bleeding to death in the colony with gun shot wounds.

“We discovered that someone shot the dogs on an eight-acre farm house adjoining the colony. The farm house belongs to a realtor called Akbar Nijamuddin,” Tappachabutra inspector B Ravindar told TOI.

When police grilled the workers of the farm house about the incident, they feigned ignorance about the entire episode.

“The workers are not saying anything. We are expecting the owner of the farm house to turn up by tomorrow to explain what had happened there,” the inspector added.

Police were not sure what kind of weapon was used or if the farm house owner or someone close to him was involved in the incident. A case was registered under Section 429 (Mischief by killing or maiming any animal of the value of Rs 50) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
