Prashant and myself have visited to Autonagar Dog Pound on Sept 4th, 2011.
As per AWBI’s visit to Hyderabad on 6th Sept, the GHMC is desperately trying to clean up their mess.The complete staff was working on a Sunday! All of a sudden, a temporary wall was built, the pounds were being washed and water taps were installed…. But still we see that nothing has changed with respect to conditions of the dogs.
On hearing the cries just behind the dog pound we were shocked to see a dead whelping mother with puppies beside here. One of the puppy was trying to drink milk from her dead mother. This dog was brought to Dog Pound along with her puppies about a week back and now she turns up dead with puppies thrown beside her. None of the staff despite hearing the cries of those poor puppies tried to help them.
As we go further behind the dog pound, dozens of dead bodies of dogs and pigs were dumped. Most of them dead since 2 or 3 days. And also some dogs can be seen feeding on these dead animals.
