Dear all,

Community dogs in Pragati Vihar have been at the receiving end of brutal assault by security guards, acting at the instance of RWA officials, for a long time. FIRs have been lodged and I have written twice about the incidents in my column but to no effect. The matter clearly has to be taken up at the highest level. For this, I need a formal letter from the AWBI to the Commissioner of Police, Delhi, with copies to Deputy Commissioner of Police, South Delhi, and SHO Lodhi Road, calling for action against the culprits under the provisions of the Prevention of Cruelty Act.
I hope this will be done early and I will be able to initiate moves without any delay.
With kind regards
Hiranmay Karlekar

Subject: Cruelty at PRAGATI VIHAR HOSTEL

Sir,
My name is Rahul  Mazumder, resident of Pragati Vihar Hostel Lodhi Road, New Delhi. The Security Guards of our Colony, have been beating the stray dogs mercilessly in our compound in contravention of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960, under the excuse of trying to remove them from the compound under the order of The Pragati Vihar Residents’ Association (President Mr. S.J. PARMAR ph_no: 9868xxxxx).
An F.I.R(DDN15A ,19/02/2013) was registered regarding the same on 19  February 2013 with Lodhi Colony Police Station. A letter in this regard was also mailed to You earlier. However no action has been taken till date.
You are requested to intervene urgently in this matter and urge the police to take action immediately.
Yours Faithfully
Rahul Mazumder
