In India, animal and environmental issues need active and broad based intervention by civil society.  The ever increasing human population has ensured that environmental degradation and animal cruelty cases are pushed to the bottom of the list by the law enforcement agencies. This has a detrimental impact from the receipt of the complaint to the pronouncement of the judgement. While one High Court after another has given reverse/ecology/animals the same rights as the humans the conviction rate in these matters is woefully dismal. In 2010 Animal welfare board of India drafted a model Amendment to The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960. Same was submitted to Ministry of Environment and Forest, now known as Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. The proposed amendment is yet to see its day in the Parliament of India.

Meanwhile, animal cruelty and environmental degradation;depletion;pollution related news and incidences keep on rising exponentially, with dismal reporting and conviction the perpetrators of the crime are having a field day.

With this initiative, we plan to take baby steps by collaborating with a law firm headed by like-minded animal lovers. We plan to initiate action against animal cruelty and environmental degradation;depletion;pollution cases happening around us.

You can help us achieve this dream by contributing to our initial requirements. The cost of initiating a case in court adds up to hundreds of man hours and thousands of rupees. We have a dream which can be our dream as well. So much can be achieved with a little contribution from your end.
