This is to inform you and others on this mailing list that Ayesha Christina (some of you have met her) was brutally assaulted in a place called Signature colony in Mukerjee Nagar when she went to pick up dogs for sterilisation. She has been given the Prahaladpur hospital for sterilisations by the MCD and is doing her utmost. On Saturday night when she presented her credentials to the President RWA he found fault with the letter, her identity, refused to listen to Dr. Dinesh Sharma who told him not to interfere, incited a mob to surround and attack her. Eventually she called the police. The police stood around filming the attack and even advised the group to step back and get the women to attack her instead. So they stepped back while the women clawed her, beat her and pushed her to the ground, stood on her, threw away her shoes, attempted to remove her tee shirt, the men were busy videotaping all this.
Gauri Maulekhi rushed to the spot as did some of us from South Delhi. We were shocked to see the SHO engaged in pleasantries with some of the mobsters outside the gate of his police station, apart from sharing their peanuts and cold drinks.
The ACP arrived and took stock of the situation. Seems he had never heard of the ABC program, or pretended not to have heard of it.
Eventually an FIR was lodged against them under various sections, weak ones, and there is an FIR against her for defending herself. This needs to be redressed immediately.

Absolutely overwhelmed by the love and support that has poured in since Saturday. Bruised and battered while I may be, my spirit is not lost, my strength is not compromised and my heart is in the right place thanks to every one of you. Let’s get ’em!
