Setting up an animal rescue center. Need a few clicks from you.
I have a good news to share. We are building a rescue center for animals in Pune. Pune, along with the twin town of PCMC is close to 300 square kilometers and it does not have any functional animal hospital that has even basic facilities like x-ray, sonography, IPD, or ICUs. There are no functional ambulances that are available 24/7. There is one hospital which is overloaded and under-equipped to handle this large city.
We are building a comprehensive unit that will take care of 360 degree look at animal welfare and will take care of various aspects of the needs of the animals. Ambulances and rescue units, fully equipped hospital with ICUs, X-rays, Sonography, IPD, OPDs shall be a part of the project. Similarly, there shall be a well trained law enforcement unit to fight animal abuse and illegal trade of animals. And a education team to ensure spread of compassion.
There have been many occasions when you offered to help me with my work, however I wasn’t prepared then. Now I seek your help, *help* is not necessarily a donation. A help can be just a click or liking my page can be the starting point, but there are more ways you can take part.

- Sponsorship: We have a business plan, anybody who sponsors will get worth of visibility. If you know some potential sponsors, please email me or if you know someone in the media business who knows potential sponsors please put us in touch.
- Media Coverage : If you know someone from the media industry or someone who is passionate and can help us with the coverage.
- Volunteering : We need volunteers, particular if you are either based in Pune to do ground work and for online promotions and social media work if you are based elsewhere.
- Donations in cash : as you can see from the pictures we have already built some infrastructure, we need to keep the shelter running till the show happens.
- Donations in kind : We need building material, cattle feed, food for animals, medicines, vet supplies and a whole lot of things.

We have started just one month ago, but we have taken big strides. Please read about the activities at the shelter.
We are a little short on resources but big on love.
We have taken up 1 acre of land with generous help from His Holiness Harshasagarji Maharasahebji and some support from Akurdi Jain Sangh.
Our shelter has already received more than 30 distress calls and we have created some functional infrastructure to help these helpless beings. We have set up some shedtemporary enclosures and shades. Of the cases we have received 10 have been cured and released back. On an average we are handling 4-5 bird rescue calls and 2-3 small animal (dog and cats) rescue calls every day.
Drought is causing distress sale of animals to butchers
The above cattle were being sold for Rs.5000 each (about US $90) each against their value of Rs30,000 – 50,000 ($ 550 – $900). These animals are brutally transported 30 in a truck without food and water and slaughtered in the most horrific manner.We have rescued 50 such animals from the horrors of the slaughter house.

Dog with skin infection
This dog was caught the municipal corporation and was completely hairless and full of wounds. Now is much better
Blind dog with injuries :
This dog was found blind and injured unable to even lift its head due to the infection and puss. It is now much better though eyesight can not be restored. He will be a permanent resident.
Helped catch a major poaching racket :
As I write this email, there is an undercover operation on and we are very close to uncovering a major operation against poaching of wild animals. We have found dealers dealing in skins of big cats. I expect the gang to be arrested in the coming few days.
