He is in a long line of simian patients we have had in our hospital, but Bajrangi is special.

On 16th Nov 2011 Team TSPCA received a distress call of a month old baby monkey being held captive by some adivasis in Thane. Our rescue team with doctor rushed to the spot & rescued the traumatized baby from the clutches of the culprits who panicked & ran away . Since the baby was badly bruised, immediate medical attention was the first priority. The TSPCA ambulance rushed to our emergency centre & the baby was given water & some juicy fruits which he slowly imbibed. After allowing him to stabilize, our senior surgeon checked him thoroughly. The X ray showed that though one of his hands was swollen & bleeding, it was not fractured but blood circulation had stopped in its left arm, making his condition critical for the next one week. He must have been tied up with both arms, as both are injured, but the left arm may have to be sacrificed later on.

The baby was christened as – Bajrangi.

In a couple of hours, a short nap and some fresh fruit juice with Cerelac, Bajrangi looked fresh & was on a romping spree. As usual, Mrs Irani has taken Bajrangi under her maternal umbrella & pampering him with renewed enthusiasm. He eats fruits and vegetables but loves his bottle of Cerelac with fruit juice.Bajrangi is a hot favorite now with all of us – considering his age, vulnerability & zest for life.

Bajrangi is simultaneously under the life saving treatment from Dr. Chariar and Dr. Madhuri Gurjar. His infection has been temporarily arrested and his clinical condition in the next week will help Dr. Chariar to decide on an amputation of his arm.
These pictures are testimonials of Bajrangi being given the best of treatment with love & care at our TSPCA facility. All we can do is pray for his quick recovery . Join us in prayer for Bajrangi’s good health.

Meanwhile the person who had intimated us about Bajrangi was thoroughly beaten up by the adivasis, and we had to lodge a police complaint on his behalf.
