11 MAY 2020 —

On 9th April an old woman Sharbati was beaten up by her neighbours and her only crime was that she feeds the stray dogs of her street. Her daughter Anupama (M- 7289019093) too feeds the dogs and her mother stays with her.

The traumatic tale of theirs started from the beginning of the new year in the month of Jan, when few of their dogs went missing. They were all sterilized, hence there was no question of them being picked up and relocation of dogs is an offence in India. They reported the missing complaint at the nearest police station (Kalyanpuri). They asked for the CCTV footage but till date the police has not given them the footage.

Then on 9 April Sharbati was beaten up by the neighbours and Anupama made a complaint with the police and the police took her mother for a medical check up but it’s been over a month now the police has neither given them the copy of the complaint nor the medical report. The Kalyanpuri police station has taken no action in both the cases. Kindly go on the following link to read about both the cases:

Obviously when law sides with the culprits, the culprits become more confident of committing crimes. Their victims become weaker and weaker and they become stronger and stronger. The victims start living in constant fear and the perpetrators start enjoying their position of power.

Anyhow the neighbours who had beaten up Shabarti became more confident when no action was taken by the police. Imagine a lady being beaten in the capital and the police even after doing a medical report didn’t take any action and left the lady to live with constant shame and humiliation.

Isn’t this human rights violation? Will the neighbours not try to beat her up again? When they know that police won’t take any action?

Anyhow Anupama and Sharbati had no other option but to live in shame. But that never deterred the brave ladies from feeding the dogs of their street. They feed around 7 to 10 dogs. And four of them stay right in front of their street.

The overconfident neighbours started teasing them and making fun of them by passing comments and they didn’t stop there. For past few days they have started pouring water from above on the dogs who sit in front of their house. They stay in the adjacent building on the first and second floor and Anupama stays on the ground floor.

But worse was still to come. Since yesterday these shameless and barbaric creatures have started pouring human urine on the dogs.

Anupama does not want to go to the same police station because she knows nothing will happen and these uncivilised goons will mentally and physically keep torturing her, her mother and her dogs for the rest of their life.

Anupama is a resident of East Vinod Nagar. Just about half a kilometre away the EDMC has put the most obnoxious  rabies awareness hoardings and they have been putting this for last three years. Have they ever assessed the impact of such awareness. Humiliation and torture of Anupama and her mother are the impact. The dogs who got missing in January is the impact. The dogs who are just sitting that too in front of Amupama’s house and being bathed with human urine is the impact.

The MCD should make a note of such dastardly acts too in their files.

Unfortunately the corporation is only busy  counting how many dog bites happened in the city and how many humans were given rabies vaccination post bite.

They should make a new file and start entering these too:

1 how many dogs die every day due to accidents in Delhi

2 how many die due to human cruelty everyday in Delhi

3 how many are abandoned by their owners either due to fear of rabies and now due to COVID 19 in Delhi

4 how many are relocated  just because the RWAs don’t like them or the people don’t like them in Delhi

5 how many die of starvation, thirst and sickness on the roads of Delhi

Well the number of all these dogs put together will be much larger than the number of dog bites which happens everyday in Delhi.

Wake up MCD and Delhi Police. It’s already too late…….don’t let the goons rule the capital of India.
