Dear friends,

I write this plea in hope that mankind today will realise that we are once again at the precipice of massive change. 400 years ago, people were allowed to torture and kill each other in the name of religion. There were mass public burnings and crucifixions of people who disagreed in anyway than what were the common belief and norm of that time. 200 years ago keeping slaves was a sign of nobility. 100 years ago women voting was thought to be impossible and we have overcome all those hurdles successfully however not without pain and blood and sweat. Today we stand at the cross road of another chance and possibility of evolving into something even more mature as we should, by giving proper respect to animals and nature.

You are all aware of the tragic incidences that took place in Bangalore about the death of two children. These were two separate incidents where in one incident the child picked up a puppy and got attacked by the mother and her pack. In the other incident , well that case is too dicey too even mention however let’s just say that the findings of the post mortem brings high doubt to the point that the death was caused by dog bites, it was most probable that the bites took place after the death. The more I speak on this the more controversial it shall become and hence I shall refrain. The case is too tragic; it’s irrelevant if it is dog related or not hence I would not like to elaborate on the whole thing instead I would want to discuss how few of the cities like Bangalore are reacting. They are out for blood. They are calling for mass culling of all dogs.

Their fear resides in nothing but fear itself. Man fears both the unknown and the known but what he fears the most is the possibility of something going wrong and that is where hate comes in. Hitler feared that the Jews will take over everything by their riches and experience in earning money, he tried to kill them all.

Hate also comes from ignorance.

“The only sin in the world is ignorance.”
Henry David Thoreau

The white man hated the native Indians and raged havoc on them because they thought they were savages and so they believed it was their right to take over all their land. The British thought Indians were savages and tried to rule over us. The Europeans and Americans led years of savagery and slavery and the excuse they used was that Africans had no soul and were savages hence they were meant to be used as slaves. Today many people in this country are trying to do the exact same thing, only this time it’s on a different species. Blame a whole species for few awry situations and call for complete genocide and extinction. Their defence? That man’s safety comes first. So I shall put up some facts about India.

“India tops world murder count

TNN Jun 2, 2008, 12.50am IST

NEW DELHI: India has earned the dubious distinction of being the country where maximum number of murders takes place in the world, three times more than its neighbour Pakistan and double the figures in United States.

There were more than 50 lakh incidents of crime reported in 2007-08 which included murder, rape and drug offences, a government report said. There were 32,719 incidents of murder recorded in India, whereas there were 16,692 in the US and 9,631 in Pakistan, the report compiled by National Crime Records Bureau and released by the Union Home Ministry, said.

India was followed by South Africa which registered 30,960 incidents of murders. Austria had recorded just 148 murders, whereas Israel registered 177 such incidents.

So I guess that calls for the complete genocide of the Indian race as we surely can’t tolerate our brothers and sisters or their trespasses.

Give us this day our daily bread,

and forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us,

and lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

I am quite sure you know whom we are praying to here. The prayer isn’t any different in almost every religion. We Indians try to prance around every other nation acting all holier than thou due to the fact that we gave birth to great spiritual leaders who are now accepted as Gods or saints. Each of them preached only one thing and one thing only, love and tolerance for all living beings, including animals. From Lord Buddha to Mahatma Gandhi, from Lord Mahavir to Vivekananda and yet we have ignorant blood thirsty people demanding blood. Children are taught the teachings of these great souls but I guess these people skipped those classes.

The basic and simple reason why such tragic incidents are taking place in cities like Bangalore is because they did not go through proper ABC procedures. They did not start a mass sterilisation program the way they should have and after paying the price, they want vindication and retribution.

Reciprocity against animals seems to be the dumbest thing I have ever heard of, as it proves that these people are equally base and simple (not innocent though) as a four legged creature and hence I don’t hate them, just fear them for their hatred but I guess by their own conception I should be allowed to kill them all because I am scared of them.

Such incidents and demands of mass culling are not in fashion in other cities of India like Delhi, Jaipur , Calcutta , Chennai , Gangtok etc simply because they are trying to go through proper sterilisation process. That does not mean there aren’t blood thirsty people in such cities but definitely not en masse. Is it remotely possible that these calls for blood are much more sinister than what it seems? Finding a scape goat is always the best thing to do to when one is trying to create diversion and the state in reference has credible need for diversion at the moment.

In my 8 years of animal welfare work I learned the fact that there are 4 types of people in reference to their attitude towards animals and everything around them. Animal crazy nuts (like me), Animal loving people, Neutral people and animal hating people. What one must understand that there is one common wish of each and every one of us despite our differences is that we all want eradication of stray animals, the only two difference would be the reason WHY and HOW. We animal loving people want them eradicated because of the hardship and pain they go through every single day and we want it done by the most scientific, moral and compassionate way possible however the animal hating ignorant bunch of people want it out of ignorance and hate. They also want it done in the worst and cheapest possible methods like poisoning, shooting, electrocuting and driving over them etc.

People always find something to blame, as many Americans in the past and even now find that everything wrong that happens, every source of crime is due to the black African Americans. It’s always easier to blame someone else than fix your own mistakes. A hard push towards ABC in every major city would have brought down the number of stray dogs and the cases of animal bites would have become negligible as many cities in India are proving that to be a fact. These are not mere fictional ideas we have made up to support animals but absolute scientific facts that have been proved after many years of research by organisations like W.H.O.

Mass culling have been done before many times over and every single time it proved to be counterproductive. The docile semi adopted dogs got replaced by feral aggressive ones and all the good work got wasted. It also left a vacuum which ensured massive increase of pests like rodents and snakes. The Surat plague is one such example of what happened due to mass culling of dogs and that is why the Honourable Supreme Court of India decided that no more mass culling would be entertained as not only was it horrible but also counterproductive.

Now killing stray animals is illegal under many IPC acts and instead the Supreme Court ensured that proper sterilisation program should be started to keep stray dogs under control and passed the 2001 ABC rules. The animal hating community finds that too harsh on them, that they are unable to rampantly kill whatever that walks on four legs and calls us animal lovers “idiots” and that “we care for animals at the cost of human lives”.

I ask everyone who is reading this the statement the question “is that really true?” What have we asked for? In a world where there are now 6.5 Billion people ravaging, raping this Earth to its extinction, we are only asking for compassion. The chief minister of the state in question has now stepped down from his incumbent post because he was caught red handed ravaging his country’s natural resources. These are the same people who are asking for blood, have those people ever felt the beating heart of a dog, or cat or cow in pain? Have they seen their eyes dimming waiting for death? Have they ever have had any of them dying in their arms? We have and so we know that they feel pain, life, love and everything else that comes with it. They accuse us of taking sides of animals against humans, is that the best shot they have at us? For wanting compassion and love to rule over hate and prejudice? They surely will have to try harder to slander us.

They have also questioned our dedication by asking us with utmost hatred and mal intent that “Why do you people only try to save dogs? Thousands of animals are being slaughtered for food every day, save them too!” Again, it shows nothing but ignorance on their part because they never tried to learn the truth. Many people like us have turned vegetarians because we don’t like the fact of killing animals for food in a day and age when there is enough amount of alternative food available but the number of vegetarians in this world is around 500 million (out of which 350 million are in India alone). Do they really expect us to be able to change the rest 6 billion people over night? We fight for their rights too, try to stop illegal slaughter houses, try to stop animal sacrifices over religion, try and ensure that whatever animal has to be slaughtered is done in the most humane manner. If it was up to us, we would stop animal slaughter altogether but would that be acceptable to the rest of the meat eating world? However does that mean the ones that are allowed to live should also be killed and tortured and hated? Their demands are just as ridiculous as they are. Maybe 100 years from now mankind will realise its folly and stop causing such intent injury to all including each other and also realise that vegetarianism is best but I fear that all will be over by the time we reach an evolved state of that sort.

I think it’s time that for once, we all ask a question to them, the animal hating community of India and world. How many dogs need to be killed before they start feeling safe? 100? 1000? 10000? The answer will be a simple and pertinent “all of them”. They won’t be satisfied, happy or feel safe till they have killed them all. I have had run ins with people throwing stones and rocks at animals and when I questioned them “why they did it?” They either said that they hated all stray animals or that they found it to be fun. On extremely rare circumstances is it actually in self defence. I rest my case.

Now the law minister of Karnataka is planning to go to Supreme Court to demand changes in ABC 2001 rules so that they can discriminately kill as many dogs as they will. So that the road side traffic police is allowed to beat a dog to death, if they will and wish it and no one will be allowed to question them. When they come and approach the honourable Supreme Court to demand that, they will find us there standing on the wall trying to fight against such stupid demands however we require your help and support. Please sign this petition. Every signature will be like a drop in the ocean, filling every second to ensure innocent blood doesn’t flow. Imagine when illegally thousands of dogs are culled every year for profit, hatred and out of ignorance, how many will they kill if it becomes legal. ALL OF THEM
